Jaipur - Much more than just pink rocks

Amer Fort

A trip to any of the Historic Cities is a treat to Architects, Archaeologists and Tourist. So was our Jaipur trip. Going from one desert(Dubai) to another(Jaipur,Rajasthan) it was interesting to note a vast cultural shift even thought the land typology and climatic situations are similar.

Visit to every Fort, Palace and Bazaar was history locking its eyes at you. The thriving historic culture of Jaipur is very rich and a little conservative even though a great touristic revenue is generated out of it. Its beauty commands pleasure be it in the miniature paintings of the Mughal kings or the Bold Forts of Amer. Jaipur stands alone as a Beautiful Queen aging with the charm of her youth.

Nahargarh Fort

Like every city in India, Jaipur is seeing rapid Development as for its proximity to Delhi. But the Pink city has managed to keep the folds of its past intact. Like all fort cities there is a city within the fort walls and there is a city beyond that. The point of transition is so well planned or should i say so generically planned that a planner would love to see it. From the precipitious heights of the Nahargarh fort the grid-iron planning of the city can very clearly be stated.

Also, It is interesting to see attempts at Modern Indian Architecture responsive to Climate,Culture and Public Congregations. Jaipur is not yet a Cosmocity nor a Town. It has the urban life of a town but Development as progressive
as that of a cosmocity
.

Lessons from a College Reunion...

Attending a 30 years College Reunion can be very ovewhelming specially if its ur dad's! To see all the oldies remember there good old college days can embrace you in a great nostalgia.

I couldnt help imagining how it would be for us to have a reunion 30 odd years ahead. Specially with all of us struggling to structure our thoughts as to what we would like to do with our lives. Where would each and every decision lead us? going paranoid about...Man! am i doing this right ?!...hey hold it im still in college why is this troubling me?!

After listening to the memorial speeches give by 20 of my dads friends I came to learn a lot of leasons in life. Each one contributed 30 years of their lives as a story covering every aspect of human learnings, from - happiness to sorrow to struggle to realisations....in every story i heard the minds of today youth with the same confusions, same anxiety about life and same struggles only a different era of living.

When they walked into their lecture rooms every part of them was responsive to the mischievous innocence of a college student. They were no more General Managers, Entrepreneurs , business heads or fathers for that matter! It was a great experience to see our Dads like that as in todays age and time we are all so caught up in making a living our true experiences of life can only been seen in glimpse of events that hold great value in the larger picture of our lives.
